Liverpool FC have been crowned Premier League champions after a dominant 5-1 victory over Tottenham at Anfield, capping off a memorable season under new manager Arne Slot.

The atmosphere inside Anfield before kickoff was electric, filled with excitement and anticipation. However, an early goal by former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke after just 12 minutes temporarily silenced the crowd and sparked anxiety among the home supporters.

Liverpool's response was swift and emphatic. Luis Díaz and Alexis Mac Allister struck within minutes of each other, turning the game on its head and giving Liverpool a 2-1 lead. The Reds continued their first-half onslaught, with Cody Gakpo adding a third goal just ten minutes later to put the game firmly under their control.

After a thrilling first half, Liverpool showcased their dominance in the second period by controlling possession and dictating the tempo. Mohamed Salah, a symbol of Liverpool’s resurgence over the past decade, added his name to the scoresheet with a goal in the 63rd minute. Moments later, an own goal from Tottenham sealed the 5-1 rout.

Captain Virgil van Dijk, speaking to Sky Sports after the final whistle, captured the emotional significance of the triumph:

"It’s special and it’s something that we don’t take for granted. It’s amazing. A lot of emotions before the game, during the whole week, but we got the job done and we are truly deserved champions of England.
(Liverpool is) the most beautiful club in the world and I think we deserve all of this. Let’s enjoy the next couple of weeks and let it sink in."

Slot’s Liverpool finished the season an impressive 15 points clear of second-placed Arsenal, underlining their dominance throughout the campaign. The Reds needed just a point to seal the title but ensured they did so emphatically with one of their best performances of the season.

Arne Slot now enters elite managerial company, becoming only the fifth manager—after José Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Antonio Conte, and Manuel Pellegrini—to win the Premier League in his first season. Remarkably, he also becomes the first Dutch manager to lift the English crown and joins Liverpool legends Joe Fagan (1983-84) and Kenny Dalglish (1985-86) in winning the league during their debut seasons.

This title also carries special emotional weight for Liverpool fans. In 2020, when Jürgen Klopp’s side ended a 30-year wait for the title, celebrations were muted due to COVID-19 restrictions, with no parade to honor the achievement. This time, thousands packed inside Anfield — and thousands more gathered outside — to share in the joyous scenes, the first such celebration in 35 years.

The club has announced that a full-scale victory parade is planned for Bank Holiday Monday, May 26, ensuring that this generation of Liverpool fans can finally revel in their heroes' success properly.

Liverpool’s 20th English league title not only ties them with Manchester United for the most top-flight crowns but also signals the beginning of a new era of dominance under Arne Slot — an era built on the club’s proud traditions of passion, resilience, and attacking brilliance.
