A petition posted on the UK Parliament website, criticizing Labour leader Keir Starmer for "going back on promises," has gained momentum, with over 100,000 signatures per hour being added. The initiative, launched by pub owner Michael Westwood and supported in part by Elon Musk, underscores growing dissatisfaction with the government.

The petition reads: "I would like there to be another General Election," reflecting mounting frustration over policies such as the removal of the winter fuel allowance for millions of pensioners, which an internal report suggests could push 100,000 more into poverty.

Senior Conservative figures have pointed to the petition as evidence of widespread discontent, labeling it an "expression of anger that Labour lied."

Labour has faced criticism over a £25 billion employer NICs tax hike, which business leaders warn could result in job losses and increased prices. Meanwhile, the UK economy continues to struggle, with inflation remaining higher than anticipated.

Despite its popularity, the petition is unlikely to force a general election. It can only trigger a debate in Westminster Hall, a secondary chamber of Parliament. However, the overwhelming response adds to the political pressure on Labour, which has seen its popularity dwindle just four months into its term.
