Round 1:

Yan started the fight by controlling the center of the octagon, with Figueiredo attempting to close the distance early. The Brazilian landed a body kick and worked for a takedown, managing to trip Yan to the canvas and gain side control. Figueiredo attempted to take Yan's back and secured a body triangle, but Yan scrambled to top position. However, Yan quickly scrambled to his feet and landed an uppercut that sat Figueiredo down. Round 4:

Figueiredo’s corner urged him to be more active, but Yan's takedown defense held up as Figueiredo struggled to close the distance. Yan landed an uppercut that knocked Figueiredo's mouthpiece out, and despite a brief exchange where Figueiredo landed a solid right hand, Yan continued to dominate. Figueiredo briefly knocked Yan down with a right hand but could not capitalize as Yan quickly recovered. MMAWeekly scored the round 10-9 for Yan.

Round 5:

Figueiredo pressed forward to start the final round, but Yan responded with combinations and a spinning back elbow. Figueiredo absorbed the blow and continued to press forward, but Yan’s superior striking and defense earned him the round. MMAWeekly scored the round 10-9 for Yan.

After five rounds of action, the judges unanimously awarded Petr Yan the victory with all three scorecards reading 50-45. Yan’s dominant performance solidified his place as a top contender in the bantamweight division, while Figueiredo, despite a valiant effort, was unable to overcome the former champion’s all-around skill.
