Sony has announced that PlayStation Network (PSN) services have been fully restored following a major outage that disrupted millions of PlayStation users worldwide. The outage, which began on Saturday, affected critical PSN features, including online gaming, social features, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Direct, and account management.
In an X post on Sunday, PlayStation’s official support handle confirmed:
“PSN has been restored. You should be able to access online features without any problems now. Sorry for the inconvenience!”
The outage was one of the most significant disruptions to PSN in recent years, leaving users frustrated as they struggled to access games and online services. Reports indicated that while some players could still access certain games, others faced a complete blackout of all PSN-related services.
Widespread Impact & User Frustration
At its peak, the outage led to over 70,000 user reports on Downdetector, highlighting the global scale of the disruption. Though Sony has not disclosed the exact cause, the prolonged downtime affected all features requiring an internet connection, causing frustration among gamers.
Despite lasting more than a day, the PSN outage was not as severe as the infamous CrowdStrike outage, which had widespread effects lasting several days.
PSN Fully Restored
Now that PSN services are back online, PlayStation users can once again access their favorite multiplayer games, online purchases, and social features without issues. Sony has not provided further details on the cause of the outage, but the company has reassured players that services are now stable.
