The Springboks’ comprehensive victory over Wales marked the culmination of an undefeated November international campaign, the first time South Africa has achieved this feat since 2013. Under the guidance of Rassie Erasmus, the Boks defeated Scotland, England, and Wales in consecutive weeks, showcasing their dominance on the Northern Hemisphere tour.

South Africa's top spot in the World Rugby rankings was secured after their 32-15 victory over Scotland, coupled with Ireland’s shock loss to New Zealand. Having briefly surrendered the No. 1 position after their loss to Argentina in the Rugby Championship, the Springboks regained the lead and maintained it throughout the November series.

A standout performance in their 29-20 win over England at Twickenham saw the Springboks open a 2.0 rating-point lead over Ireland. Their final test of the year, a commanding 34-20 victory over Wales, ensured South Africa finished the November window at the top, a ranking they will hold into 2025.

South Africa’s only two losses of the year came by a single point, to Ireland and Argentina. Overall, the Springboks claimed 11 wins from 13 matches in 2024, also securing their first full Rugby Championship title since 2019. Their consistent performances across the year cemented their place atop the global rankings and signaled their strength heading into next year’s competitions.
