Ukraine's Defense Minister to Visit South Korea for Strategic Talks
A Ukrainian delegation, led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, is set to visit Seoul and meet with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol as early as Wednesday, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Umerov plans to share intelligence regarding North Korea's reported troop deployments to Russia and seek South Korea's support in Ukraine's ongoing conflict with Moscow. This follows Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's announcement last month about Kyiv's intent to send officials to South Korea during phone talks with President Yoon.
South Korea has indicated it may consider providing arms support to Ukraine, contingent on the level of military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow. Ukraine has expressed an urgent need for anti-aircraft missiles and artillery systems to counter escalating threats from Russia.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha also voiced expectations for closer information sharing between Seoul and Kyiv concerning North Korea’s ties with Russia.
This visit underscores Ukraine's efforts to strengthen international alliances and address growing concerns about the military relationship between North Korea and Russia.
